Auto accidents, the accidents caused due to collision of vehicles, most commonly result in whiplash-type injuries to the cervical spine as well as cerebral concussion. As one vehicle hits another; it causes one’s head to be abruptly thrown back and sideways. The more sudden the motion, the more bones, discs, muscles and tendons in ones neck and upper back will be damaged. In severe cases, spinal cord injuries and paralysis are possible depending on the severity of accident. Patients often complain of pain and aching to the neck and back, sometimes radiating to the shoulders, pins and needles sensation in the arms and headache. Symptoms can appear right after the injury, but often are not felt until days afterwards.
